GENERAL: It is the responsibility of the individual stakeholders in the University Centre to arrange adequate housekeeping services for their respective areas. The Director of the University Centre is responsible to oversee that the building’s occupants fulfill their obligations in this respect.

POLICY: 1.0 University Centre Bookable Space

1.1 Clean-up in this area will ordinarily be provided by Custodial Services’ staff. Costs related to special clean-up due to a group’s activity may be charged to the group booking the activity space.

2.0 Office Space

Clean-up will ordinarily be provided by Custodial Services’ staff. It is the responsibility of the individual office holder to maintain a certain level of cleanliness within that space, and special clean-ups can be requested through Custodial Services.

3.0 Commercial Space

3.1 It is the Lessee’s responsibility to provide housekeeping service within the leased premise.

4.0 Hospitality Service Space

4.1 It is the responsibility of Hospitality Service to arrange for cleaning services in space under their control.

5.0 Student Space

5.1 This area also falls under the area of office space in that the users are expected to provide a certain standard of cleanliness and housekeeping services themselves. The Custodial Services staff will provide further housekeeping service. Unscheduled housekeeping clean-ups can be requested through the Director or his delegate, the Building Manager. There may be charge levied by Custodial Services for special clean-ups.

6.0 Administration Space

6.1 Please refer to office space above.

7.0 All other user group space clean-up will ordinarily be provided by Custodial Services’ staff. Special clean-ups can be requested through the University Centre Director or his delegate, the Building Manager. There may be a charge levied by Custodial Services for special clean-ups.

8.0 If any area within the University Centre is found to be in a state of uncleanliness or brought to the attention of the University Centre Administration - the Building Manager will meet with the organization controlling the space to make arrangements for the space to be brought back to a clean state within an agreed upon time frame. Occurrences considered to be health or safety issues will be required to be cleaned at once. There may be a charge
levied by Custodial Services for special clean-ups.
